DIAGNOSTIC CENTRE FOR PHYSICAL MOVEMENT AND FUNCTION

The Carolina Medical Center implements functional testing methods and applies them routinely to evaluate movement structure; one of the first clinics in Poland to do this. These methods are based on the principles of Sport Biomechanics, appropriately adapted for the purpose of treating patients in need of the services of orthopaedic-rehabilitation clinics. These methods can also be applied to non-athletes, particularly children and the elderly.

FOD-2736

Specialists working for the Diagnostic Centre for Physical Movement and Function conduct body functioning tests (which up to now was only applied in the evaluation of the strength potential of athletes and the possibility of improving their training) to appraise motor organ overloading effects and assess rehabilitation effectiveness and possible alterations of the treatment programme.

Physical Movement and Function Diagnostics is applicable in the following cases:

  • every stage of treating the patient (also before and after the operation, excluding the period needed for operating scars to heal)
  • giving a rationale for choosing the strategy and methodologies of treatment
  • showing an objective image of treatment progress and monitoring it
  • prevention of injuries
  • helping doctors to decide whether it is possible for patients to continue with physical exercises and practising sport, which involve actions with a much greater burden on the body than everyday activities.
  • proper connection of functional tests and data taken from different sciences (like anthropology, physiology, biochemistry, etc.), specialist literature and norms worked out through the long-term experience of the Carolina Medical Center’s team, allowing significant risk reduction connected with returning to sports.

Selection of tests available at the Physical Movement and Function Diagnostics Centre:

Body-functioning diagnosis is routinely performed in patients suffering from different motor organs diseases, such as:

  • muscular traumas: contusions, straining, breaking, e.g. Achilles tendons
  • joints traumas: dislocations, sprains, ligament injuries, and many more
  • fractures
  • joint arthrosis
  • during post-operative treatment, including endoprosthesis
  • after a period of immobilising the limb (plaster cast) and treatment with incomplete burden (walking with crutches)
  • tendency to injuries

as well as:

  • before the beginning of a sports or recreational activity
  • in order to improve sports training and sports technique

All tests are safe and non-invasive. They can be taken by children as well as adults, persons practising recreational and professional sports, and persons with disabilities.

Important Questions to ask yourself  - the answers can be found in our movement diagnostic processes.

Do you plan to take up physical activity and want to make sure it is suitable for you?

Do you practise sports but your body more often rebels and sends you warning signals like pain?

An injury, which you experienced a long time ago, returns with redoubled strength, in the same place?

Do you value your health and care about its protection?

Do you wonder when you can safely return to physical activity after a sustained injury, immobilization or having undergone treatment?

Do you want to feel the full pleasure of practising sport?

Or maybe you just worry about flat foot, abnormal spinal curvature or other posture defects?

The movement system’s dysfunctions, the rehabilitation process or general body fitness will be subject to thorough examinations using the highest technology equipment. Based on the functional test results a doctor, a physiotherapist, or a coach would evolve the most appropriate strategy for you. It could either be an appropriately selected insole or a rehabilitation programme alteration, or perhaps it would be confirmation that you are ready to return to the sports activity.

If you are curious about your possibilities and want to increase your strength and to improve your fitness - consult our doctor or physiotherapist, who will help you choose the functional examination most appropriate for you.
